ALL of my onward travel in Egypt & Jordan was booked through the hostel / hotel I was staying at.
This includes:

The overnight train from Cairo to Aswan. Having the hostel booked the ticket got round the restrictions with foreigners having to buy expensive VIP tickets

The Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor
The ONLY exceptions were:

My bus from Luxor > Hurghada which I booked online with Go Bus

My bus from Sharm El-Sheik to Dahab, where I simply bought a ticket at the bus station in town
ACTIVITIES
Again nearly all of the activities I did (day tours to pyramids, temples etc) were booked through the hostel / hotel I was staying at.
The dive company I used in Dahab was H20 Divers
